About Invisalign®

Choosing to straighten your teeth is a big decision that affects not only your appearance, but your lifestyle as well. As an adult, you may be looking to improve your smile for personal, business and social reasons, or even for a special occasion. Or perhaps you’re a teen or the parent of a teen looking for an effective yet modern answer to braces. Either way, Invisalign® can provide you simple way to get straighter, more symmetrical teeth without having to put your life on hold.

I don’t want metal braces at my age, are there any other options for me?

Yes! With Invisalign®, you don’t wear metal braces. Instead, your teeth are straightened by wearing a series of virtually invisible plastic aligners. Almost no one can tell you’ve got the aligners on (unless you tell them). They can also be removed if you have an important event or evening planned.

Can I remove my Invisalign® Clear Braces?

Yes, you wear them all the time, except when you’re eating, drinking anything but water, brushing, and flossing.

It seems like too much trouble and will take too long, should I just leave my teeth the way they are?

Treatment with Invisalign® is easy! You’ll receive a series of clear aligners, which allow you to start a fresh set every two weeks. You wear them all the time, except when you’re eating, drinking anything but water, brushing, and flossing. After your consultation we can determine an approximate treatment time for you. On average, most Invisalign® takes about 3-12 months depending on each individual.

FAQ

Can I still have braces even though I am an adult?

Yes, getting your teeth straightened isn’t just for teenagers anymore. Like many adults, you have probably wanted to straighten your teeth. Our teeth tend to get slightly crooked over time, especially if we wore braces as kids but stopped wearing your retainer at some point.

I had braces as a kid but never wore my retainer, why are my teeth moving back to their old crooked position?

After wearing braces you should always wear your retainer at night. The reason for this is that your teeth will want to move back to their original position. By wearing your retainer once a day this will help “remind” your teeth where their new home is and will stay straight for life.

Is Invisalign® more expensive than traditional braces?

Invisalign® treatment is often similar in cost to traditional braces. In addition, if you have orthodontic insurance coverage, Invisalign® is often covered to the same extent as traditional braces. At Yaletown, we offer a variety of affordable payment plans. Our office will be happy to work with you on all of the insurance and financial details.
